Bolton school of dance

Brownies

Meeting in the Parish Centre on Tuesdays 6.15-7.30pm, Brownies introduces girls to a world of new opportunities, challenges and fun. To register your child or for more information check out the website: https://www.girlguiding.org.uk/what-we-do/brownies-7-10/

Creative Writing Group

Mondays 10am-12noon. For anyone 50+ who is interested in learning to write creatively, whether it's your own story, a poem or a piece of fiction you have always fancied writing! No charge but you do need to book. Contact us for more details

Coffee morning & Internet Cafe

Open every Friday morning from 11.15am-12.45pm. We have computers available to access the internet and online services, as well as brews, and an opportunity to meet new people or socialize with old friends! Contact us for more details

Fun Days

Looking for a safe, warm, friendly place to go with your baby or toddler? This could be the place for you and your child to make friends and happy memories. Our sessions are Tuesdays 9.30-11.30 am, with plenty of space for toddlers and a dedicated baby area too. Contact us for more details

Hafway

Our motto is 'making a difference with young people'. More than 100 young people engage with HAFWAY each month and with the majority of the young people coming from deprived backgrounds, ethnic minority groups and broken homes we really are making a difference in their lives. Based in the Community centre, Hafway runs a number of groups, for more details of any of these, contact: moira@hafway.org

> Afterschools clubs

Space and activities for young people in school years 6 - 9. Fridays 3.15-5pm. Drop in and play pool, computer games, table tennis, craft activities and more. Free toast and hot chocolate too. Based in the Community centre

> Duke of Edinburgh

The Duke of Edinburgh award is for young people aged 14 and above and is a youth achievement award designed to give young people the opportunity to become the best they can be. HAFWAY support young people through all 3 levels of the award; bronze, silver and gold.

> Youth group & Youth forum

Empowering young people to develop their skills, their ideas and their confidence in representing the views of our next generation! Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays 6.30-9pm for a diverse range of activities from cooking dinner to discussion groups, table tennis and pool to crafts and trips out, board games and keep fit.

Halliwell Befriending Service

Halliwell Befriending Service aims to provide a visiting, befriending and support service to housebound, isolated, disabled, lonely and mentally frail older people living in the Halliwell area. Halliwell Befriending Service also run a number of groups for people to meet with others and socialise! The offices are based in the community centre. For more information on befriending or any classes and groups, please ring 01204 840808, or drop into the centre in a morning!

> Activities Club

This club is run by Halliwell Befriending society, and meets alternate Mondays, 1-3pm in the Community Centre. An opportunity to play darts, pool, dominoes, scrabble, carpet bowls etc. Price £1 including refreshements.

> Computer Club

Run by Halliwell Befriending Service, this is an opportunity to learn digital skills in a  warm and friendly environment.  Every Thursday morning 9.30-11.30am in the Community Centre. Price per class £2.50, includes tea, coffee and toast. If you are interested in joining, please ring Steph on 07833 567475

> Crafters friendship club

Sewing, knitting, cardmaking, lace making, adult colouring books and more! A safe and warm place to learn new crafts skills and enjoy expressing your creativity. Meeting every Friday, 1-3pm, price is just 50p including refreshments. 

       > Carer's brunch

Providing a safe space to bring your loved one, time out for yourself and a place to support and receive advice from people who understand. Just £1, which includes brews plus brunch is available at a small cost. Monthly on a Monday 12-1pm

> Film Club

A classic movie every month, Tuesdays 1-4pm. £3 per person which includes the movie, tea or coffee, hot dog or soup and a roll. Contact Steph for further details on 07833 567475

> Luncheon club

Share a 2-course lunch with friends, raffle and a game of bingo. Meets fortnightly on Mondays in the Parish Centre 12-2pm. £4 per person.

Harvest Church

Meets in the parish centre, Sundays 12-3pm, Visitors welcome.

Keep fit

This is a weekly gentle exercise class tailored to get you moving in a supportive and friendly group. It includes seated exercises. Meet with others and learn some techniques you can use at home too. Every wednesday in the Community  centre from 10.45-11.45am. The class is £1.50, and you don't need to book .

Rainbows

Fridays 5.45-7pm at the Parish Centre. Rainbows is all about developing self-confidence, building friendships, learning new things and having fun. Girls get their hands dirty with arts and crafts, get in touch with nature and play games - it's all about learning by doing.

Saturday Cafe

St Paul's Church

St Paul’s Church seeks to serve in the Halliwell Community witnessing to the love of God shown to all in Jesus Christ. Worship is low evangelical with a more contemporary feel at the all age service on the first Sunday of the month. We are a small friendly congregation. There are creche facilities and a Sunday School

Walking Groups

We have a walking group that meets fortnightly, for a 45-90mins walk around the Smithills and Halliwell area. Not done much walking? Or not used to walking far or fast - this is the group for you! Meeting at St Paul's community centre, at 11.30am and finishing here too, in time for brunch (at a small extra cost). Contact Steph on 07833 567 475 for more details

Crompton Heritage Walks 2019 There will be a few more walks in the local area, with enthusiastic tour guide Susan Hindle, this is a great opportunity to learn more about the history of the local area. See the website for more details  www.cromptonwalks.com

Yoga class

This friendly supportive group meets every Thursday for a seated exercise class with a professional instructor. 10-11am at St Paul's Church, just £4 per session. No need to book, just come along and join in.

Young at heart

This brand new group is run by Huddle Up and will be meeting every Wednesday 1.30-2.30pm at the Community Centre, to sing, share stories and enjoy each others company.
